Unique Programs 

  • Our Natural Resources department offers several unique programs special to our state.  
  • The Fish & Wildlife Management associate degree is the only one offered throughout the state of North Carolina and is accredited by the North American Wildlife Technology Association. 
  • Our Forest Management Technology associate degree is the only degree program accredited by the Society of American Foresters. 
  • Professional Crafts are unique to western North Carolina and HCC is the only college in the state of North Carolina to offer four different focus areas for a two-year associate degree. Focus areas include Fiber, Clay, Wood and Jewelry. Haywood Community College’s Professional Crafts programs are the only ones in the nation that provide both hands-on craft curriculum and the business training to aid students in successfully starting their own business. 

Economic Impact

In December 2021 an Economic Impact study was completed. This study reviewed areas such as alumni impact, student spending and overall community investment as a result of HCC being part of Haywood County.
