Location: Oak Building, upstairs

Join this immersive 10-week sewing course in which you will master essential techniques and construction methods for creating clothing. Students will master sewing machine operation, explore textiles and notions, gain an understanding of sewing patterns, and learn the ins and outs of how a garment is made. Throughout the class we will create a comprehensive sample book of construction techniques such as seams, hems, finishes, buttons and zippers, and much more.  Students will complete three finished garments using the skills learned throughout the class. All skill levels are welcome, and students are encouraged to bring their own sewing machines. Note: Students must obtain additional supplies for this course, listed below. Students cannot purchase supplies, materials, and/or books from the instructor.

  • Sewing Machine (Student's own)
  • 4 inch Binder and Plastic Page Sleeves
  • Muslin Fabric 5-10 Yards
  • Fabric of Students Choosing based on patterns selected
  • Three Sewing Patterns
  • Polyester Thread
  • Scissors or Snips
  • Seam Ripper
  • Marking Utensils (pencils, pens, water soluble fabric pen)
  • Ruler (Preferably a Clear Drafting Ruler)
  • Invisible Zipper
  • Standard Zipper
  • Notebook
