This class will cover many topics for handweavers. It’s recommended for students to have some experience with winding a warp, setting up a loom, and basic weaving techniques. In this hands-on class students will learn project planning with dimensions and yard, adjusting waving drafts, planning for end-use with yarn type, sett, hems, sampling, and much more. With a wide variety of concepts in this class, finishing techniques will be examined by project type and considerations will be given for sewing with handwovens. Note: Students must obtain additional supplies for this course, listed below. Students cannot purchase supplies, materials, and/or books from the instructor.

Materials:

  • Yarn for the project
  • 1” wide soft ribbon (silk-like), one spool (to make a measuring tape)
  • Any additional embellishments if required by product idea
