Setting Stones

Location: Sycamore Building, 7231

In this exciting 8 week class, students will learn to set stones.  You will learn Bezel setting, Prong setting, variations of prong setting such as bezel and prong or making your own bezel design, and Open back setting.  We will be using gemstones, copper, silver, or brass.  Our projects will be a ring, bracelet, pendant and earrings, all of the mentioned or just one depending on your preference.  This class in it’s entirety will give you the skill to set stones in your work in numerous ways.  You will need to have basic jewelry making skills to take this class. Note: Copper to be supplied by school. If students want to use Silver, they will order it themselves. Students are also responsible for their own gemstone(s).
1) 24g sheet
2) 22g sheet
3) 30g sheet
4) various gauges of wire as already in the classroom,
5) gemstone to set.
