Instructor: Barbara Brook

This class will explore oil painting basics and making natural pigments from mostly foraged and wild materials like soil, clay, rocks, and charcoal. Learn the ancient craft of pigment while making your own natural material found in Appalachia. The class will include foraging for raw material and learning how to process it into pigment with the use of a mortar and pestle and a glass muller and plate. Understanding the fundamentals of oil paints will give you a deeper appreciation for all the colors and materials of the earth!
