Intro to Digital Photography 1

Two hands work fabric through a sewing machineInstructor: Sabrina Greene-Rusk

Location: Sycamore Bldg., Rm. 7302

In this course, students will delve deeper into the fundamental techniques of photography, building on the essentials to create more dynamic and intentional images. We will explore how to capture close-up photographs using aperture, convey movement through shutter speed, and compose visually striking images using foundational principles like the rule of thirds, cropping, and expert composition. Additionally, the course will introduce the importance of color theory, how color interacts with light, and the methods to work effectively with natural and low-light settings. This is the second half of Intro to Digital Photography 1. Students will be guided through hands-on exercises designed to master these concepts, developing confidence in controlling their camera settings and adapting to various lighting conditions. The introduction of Adobe Lightroom will serve to enhance post-processing skills, but the primary emphasis will be on achieving impactful results directly through the camera. The goal is to provide an engaging and supportive environment where students can transform their understanding of photography and begin to develop their unique artistic vision.
