Institutional Excellence, Research, and Grants

The Department of Institutional Excellence, Research, and Grants assists the college with grant research and writing, and supports re-accreditation efforts along with report writing.  These elements are key to the success of the college and our students. As part of the North Carolina Community College System, Haywood Community College follows and participates in the state-wide efforts to ensure student success and goal achievement.

What is QEP?

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a part of the re-accreditation process for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) that focuses on specific learning outcomes designed to enhance learning relative to a specific topic. It must be developed from institutional assessment, include broad-based involvement of constituencies, identify goals, and plans to assess those goals. The topic chosen for Navigating College is Student Success through Excellence in Advising.
