A Message from Haywood Community College Public Safety Team

On behalf of Haywood Community College’s Public Safety Team, it is our pleasure to welcome you to Haywood Community College (HCC). Our department is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for our faculty, staff, students, and visitors. The following information and resources are designed to provide you with guidance, answers to frequent questions, and help to ensure your safety and security while at HCC. A truly safe campus can only be achieved through the cooperation of all individuals on campus. We hope you will use the information and resources you find here to become our partners in preventing crime. While our officers actively work to control crime, members of our campus community can help by always being alert, by taking notice of details if you ever witness criminal activity and by reporting that information immediately to our Team. Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment. By working together, we can achieve that goal. We encourage you to get to know us. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask, or say "hello" to us when you see us on campus.

Our Mission

The mission of the Haywood Community College’s Public Safety Team is to enhance the quality of learning and life opportunity for the campus community through dedicated and professional service. The team serves with integrity, discretion and in a fair, proper, and thorough manner. The conduct of each member of our team will be professional and honorable. We work with organizations to maintain a campus environment that is socially rich, diverse and supports the college mission of excellence and learning.

Public Safety Staff are trained to respond to campus incidents, including:

Accidents (motor vehicle and/or personal)

Fire

Medical Emergencies

Civil Disorder

Natural Disasters

Officers are in constant communication with county-wide emergency agencies.

General HCC Incidents

General incidents include issues of conduct, threatening and/or concerning behavior, student complaints/grievances, and student illness/injuries.  General incidents do not include academic dishonesty. Please do the following only after contacting the HCC Public Safety Team.

  • Access the Incident Reporting Form by using the following link: Incident Reporting Form
  • Fill out the Incident Reporting Form to the best of your knowledge. All spaces marked with a red asterisk are required.
  • Be sure to include a detailed description of the incident.
  • Don’t forget to upload supporting documentation, if applicable.
  • Submit report when complete. Upon submitting the report, a message will be displayed, stating that your report was successfully submitted.

Students and Employees can use the Incident Reporting Form to submit an incident they have witnessed or want to bring to our attention.

Public Safety Tips

If you See Something, Say Something.

If you have information that you would like to share with our team please do so below. If you wish to remain anonymous, do not share your name or contact information.

Please understand that reporting a concern anonymously may hinder our ability to fully investigate and resolve the issue. To assist us, it is important that you provide as many details as you can about your concern since we will not be able to contact you for further information if you choose to submit anonymously. This includes sharing not just the specific concern but all facts relevant to the concern, including names of people who may have information regarding this issue and who we should talk to as part of our investigation.

Campus Security & Safety Report

Haywood Community College's Safety Office prepares these reports in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistic Act (Clery Act). These reports are designed to provide you with important information about your safety and security by providing you with statistics about crime that occurs on campus, in or on off campus buildings and/or property owned or controlled by HCC. These statistics include crimes reported to our Public Safety Team, Student Services, and crime information requested from local law enforcement agencies in reference to crimes committed near our campus and non-campus properties that are reported directly to other law enforcement agencies.
